| Fastest qualifying time; fastest lap time; fastest race time; these are the targets each Formula One driver strives for. Truly, in a sport where performance – and perhaps the difference between winning and losing – can be measured in thousandths of a second, Time is the perennial opponent.
The other arch-enemy is Weather, you never know what will happen in the race. The weather could play a big role and disrupt carefully engineered plans. Some teams have become masters in anticipating the weather in their favour, being able to influence the outcome of a race or even the outcome of a World Championship in their favour.
Synergy - through technology It was this need to measure and master Time and Weather that engendered this exciting new collaboration between Ferrari, manufacturer of the world’s most famous sports cars, and Oregon Scientific, a true innovator and leader in the field of lifestyle consumer electronics.
Oregon Scientific’s success has been built on combining innovative, precise and reliable technology with stylish design, in a smart, user friendly way, to help us make sense of our surrounding environment. The synergies with a winning team like Ferrari – winners in both Formula One drivers and constructors championships for the last three years running – is clear. Both Oregon Scientific and Ferrari have become symbols of inspired, exclusive design with built-in performance.
Two lines The new Ferrari collection of Oregon Scientific is divided into two lines, each consisting of three distinctive products. The products themselves are available in the classic Ferrari colours of racing red or carbon fibre black, and carry the logos of both companies as a symbol of synergy. · The instruments in the Aerodynamic line – Silverstone, Monza and Hockenheim – are characterised by a curvy, sporty look that evokes the world of Formula One motor racing. · The three products in the Luxury line – Imola, Maranello and Modena – capture the sports-car style, and feature a sleek silver finish and round, speedometer-like displays. The designs, materials (such as carbon fibre, silver and red finishing) and names of the 6 products are clearly reminiscent of the Formula One and Ferrari worlds and will delight true fans. But there is more under the bonnet! Oregon Scientific has smartly integrated some legendary Ferrari icons in this new collection such as: · The traditional alarm bell is complemented by the roaring sound of a Ferrari engine. For a full-speed wake-up! · The projection clocks, Silverstone and Maranello, not only project the time on the ceiling, which makes for a most convenient reading at any time of the night but also the Ferrari logo. The only clocks that make you dream! · Oregon Scientific is the world leader in home weather stations and its smart icons, depicting the weather prediction, 24 hours ahead, such as sunny, cloudy or rainy have become household figures. For the new Ferrari collection, these icons are complemented by fun graphics of tyres: wet, intermediates or slicks according to the weather forecast. To be ready under any circumstances!
Aerodynamic Line The three products in the Aerodynamic range are named for three of motor racing’s legendary circuits:
Silverstone FAP101 is a projection alarm clock with calendar and thermometer functions. The projection facility (with 180° tiltable projection head) enables the user to “beam” an image of the current time, as well as the Ferrari logo, onto a darkened wall or ceiling.
The alarm clock features a 2-minute daily crescendo alarm with 8-minute snooze function, and there’s a choice of alarm tones: wake up in conventional manner with the “regular” beep alarm, or leap up, raring to face the day, to the roar of a Ferrari engine!
Monza FAW101 is a sophisticated barometric weather station that enables you to keep track of the time and the environment with Formula One precision.
The weather station has all the features you’d expect from the market leader in such products – at-a-glance weather forecast, barometric pressure display, indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity (taking readings from up to 3 wireless remote sensors, 1 included as standard), comfort level indicator and more. The weather forecast function utilises the icons we’re all familiar with – sunny, cloudy, rainy. F1 fans, however, can opt to get their forecast in the form of fun racing tyres graphics – wets, intermediates and slicks. Monza can be set to rouse you with the Ferrari engine growl for a quick start to your day!
Hockenheim SL929 is not just any stopwatch. This ergonomically-designed three-line instrument wouldn’t look out of place hanging around Ferrari team boss Jean Todt’s neck in the pitlane. Featuring both chronometer and countdown functions, and water resistant up to 1 atmosphere, the Hockenheim measures times in increments of 1/100th of a second, making it ideal for fans of all sports, not just motor racing.
There’s also a Pacer mode, allowing you to regulate between 30 and 240 strokes/beats per minute, in steps of 5, with an audible beep – an invaluable training aid for serious athletes. Luxury Line
Ferrari road cars, from the classic Dino to the “new classic” 575 Maranello, are equally famous, and the Luxury line, with its dashboard dial-style displays, reflects the full ambience of these sports roadsters.
Imola FST301 is a travel alarm clock with calendar (indicating the month and day of the week in five languages), that also gives indoor temperature readings on its stylish liquid crystal display. The Imola is compact enough to slip into the smallest suitcase or overnight bag, but tough enough behind its protective, Ferrari-logoed cover to withstand the rigours of foreign travel. Like its Aerodynamic stable mates, it too features a racing car Vroom! alarm.
Maranello FSP301 has quite a pedigree to live up to, named as it is after the Ferrari factory in Italy, spiritual and literal home to all Ferrari sports cars. The Maranello is a projection alarm clock with calendar, with similar function and versatility to the Silverstone, but with the important addition of barometric weather forecasting, plus indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity functions. Weather forecasts can be displayed either as conventional icons or as racing tyres, and the alarm can be switched between beep and Ferrari V12 roar.
Modena FSW301 is a full barometric weather station incorporating a clock and calendar. It’s packed with a range of exciting features to match its stylish dashboard-style design. The display consists of two round dials, both backlit, one indicating the weather forecast (either conventionally, or in the form of racing tyres) and date, the other showing indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity readings. This instrument can accept readings from 3 splash-proof, wireless remote sensors (1 supplied), which can be placed up to 30 metres distance “at sight”. As with all of the alarm clocks in the range, the Modena’s alarm melody can be switched between beep or pitlane Ferrari’s distinctive engine roar.
So whether its aerodynamic thrills or laid-back luxury you’re looking for in your electronic clock or weather station, the new Oregon Scientific with Ferrari collection has a product to suit your taste. Vrooooooooom!!!
